Day 11: The Emerald Coast on Valentine's Day

Finding a church to attend when you're traveling can be a challenge. You might get a good one, you might wish you had stayed home. Today we worshipped with Mark and Sue Burns at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Crestview, FL. It was great! Here's a church in transition - they lost their lead pastor a few months ago - but doesn't seem to be missing a beat. Great band, worship and message. I'm so happy for Mark and Sue.

When you're traveling you also have to occasionally do your laundry. So I was up early and handled the job. And what's with the 24 degrees this morning at 6:20? But it warmed up quickly, and by the afternoon was sunny and very pleasant. I guess the temp rose 40 degrees.

After lunch with the Burns and their visiting daughter Nicole, Mark drove us to Okaloosa Island and Destin. The sand, as you can see in the pics is as white as snow. We got to stop in and visit a couple of Rachel's "co-workers" (Petra and Daphine) at Kitty Hawk Kites' two stores there.

Hope your Valentine's Day is great! Who knows what we'll be doing tomorrow. New Orleans, maybe?

  1. We have to say this was one of the best weekends we've had since we left the OBX. What a blessing it was to have you and Gail take the time to be with us for an evening and a day. It meant so much to have your nod of approval for the new church where we have been led to worship. After all, it was through your teaching Rick, that our lives were forever changed, when we received Christ at NHC. Thanks to you both for the wonderful memories and know that you are loved and always in our prayers. Have fun and may God bless you both as you continue, "Your Great Adventure".

  2. How cool! We were all thinking about you guys being together as we began our gatherings yesterday. You were also the topic of conversation when four of us single ladies went out for a Valentine's Day lunch at Tortuga's--and thanked God for being THE ONE!
