Day 10: Tampa to the Panhandle

We were blessed so much to visit with Scott and Gayle Ranck. It's so awesome to see and hear how God has guided them here. This morning Gayle made us breakfast (a french toast thing with chocolate dipped strawberrys on the side). Thanks Scott and Gayle for practicing your gift of hospitality!

The drive ahead was about 6.5 hours to Crestview, FL where we're spending Saturday and Sunday nights. I'm not crazy about Florida, but we saw some beautiful country today. I told Gail when we got on I-10 that it would be our highway all the way to San Diego.

After checking in to our motel (finally some great rates and in a new motel) we followed Mark and Sue Burns to their home. To say they live off the beaten path is no exaggeration! Sue's daughter Nicole is down for a few days, escaping the frozen tundra of Maryland. If you've ever had the treat of eating at Sue's table you'll appreciate the stuffed flounder we had for dinner tonight!

The Burns are special to us (and are greatly missed by our church family). They came to know Christ at NHC and were among our church's best ambassadors in the community. Tomorrow morning we'll join them for worship at their church, where they serve (as they were trained at NHC) as greeters. Maybe we'll get to run down to the Gulf Coast and see some sites there as well.

Hope you're enjoying the Olympics, too! USA!

We're real excited about the new Kids Zone opening tomorrow. Although we're not there, our hearts are!

  2. Gayle and I really enjoyed your visit. Though the ladies just met it felt like we've been life long friends! It was refreshing to have the open conversation. Gayle said, it was nice to have folks who don't feel like you need to tip toe around anything. Lord bless the remainder of your journey!
