Day 26: On the road again

How could we travel out to CA and not get a chance to see Russ, Michele and Wyatt Poland? They're doing great. Wyatt is growing up and is plenty talkative and is in 3rd gear all the time.
The Polands are enjoying their life here, but really miss their friends back on the OBX.

It was about an hour drive to their house, through a part of SoCal we had never before been. Everything here is so green due to the rains, which makes the usually brown terrain pop.

The green hills with the snow covered mountains in the distance.

From their home it was about a 5 hour drive to our destination: San Luis Obispo on the Central Californian Coast. To get there we took about 6 different freeways and did our best to stay north of LA. I did all the driving (except for the final 9 miles), allowing Gail to take it all in. We went through a lot of familiar places...Pasadena, Burbank, Hollywood, Ventura...and finally got away from the population that is Southern California to a beautiful coastline and rolling hills.

We're spending the night here, then off tomorrow to more adventures and a visit with more friends. More pics are posted on Facebook.

Gail here - things are not always what they appear in southern California. I am just fascinated that they try to camoflauge phone towers as trees, several varieties. They are all over the place. And the recent rains make the usual brown hillsides a lovely green. A nice alternative!
